Free Talk (2) - Comic vs Anime

Comic vs Anime.

If you know me, for Japanese comics/anime, I like the original comic more then Animation most of the time.

For YYH, of course I like the comic more too. Anime isn't bad but the illustrations are frequency distorted, even it happens to most animation anyway - however for YYH, the story as well. They added storylines, even small details or add conversations, the characters wouldn't be the same in comic anymore (and to be honest its make the character more stupid, for example in YYH, Koenma is not half smart as in Comic), ok that's happens to almost all the Japanese comics turn into animation too.

For characters on animation I feel bad for Sensui. He looks pretty good in the comic, in fact attractive. However on animation he looks awful – the face is very long (too long, actually just a distort-twisted face) and the proportion of his body is so wrong… he looks like 9 feet 8 there. Also added conversation and some fighting scene which shouldn't be added ( like in the cave, after Sensui's main personality Shinobu show up, Yusuke couldn't be able to even move him. When you read the comic you will be very shocked of the power and you know its more make sense this way – however after the animation added that sense in between, even its was only 3 mins, the whole feeling of the power would be different … ) etc.

Also adding some storylines/scripts to break the rule in this comic -it's ridicolus to say Yusuke to have Sacred Energy. its changed the orginal (comic story ) way too much. the only person who has Sacred Engery is Sensui. Yusuke has demon blood so he can't actually have this holy energy. for pure blood human Sensui is the storgest and becase he is human that's why he CAN have the sacred energy. Even Genkai couldn't get it.

Another scripts change was what Itsuki has said about Sensui.

Comic: "imagine if there's a complete innocent girl who still believe in fairytale. How would she feel when there's uncut pornography photo in front of her. She cannot accept it or pretend she never seen it, she can only feel hurt and despair.”

Anime: "imagine there's snow white paper and drop some ink on it. The ink will growth bigger” bla bla

Completely different. Itsuki made a really good analogy to explain Sensui's situation in the comic but on TV was just non-sense.

But one thing great about the animation – the vocal actor. I watched Japanese, Cantonese and American English version and it was all good – means the animation itself is good, especially recently you can watch the English one on you-tube (and I'm going to buy the Japanese set some day later ), they changed the way of the translation a little which isn't affecting to the story but match to their language's humour … laugh out loud!

Example one: In Dark Tournament, when Botan was hiding in the trees looking at Yusuke and Keiko talk, Yusuke caught her and she said she wasn't doing that on purpose. Then Yusuke said to her “oh yeah right you are looking for a place to pee”

Example two: In Dark Tournament, the spirit world monster “Pui” first show up but it was only a small funny pet at first and it stand on Yusuke's head. Every one laughed at him and when Hiei saw it, he said to Yusuke “What is that ridiculous apendant growing out of your head all about?”

Example three: In Gate of Demon's world storyline, Mitarai (Seaman) was shocked that Itsuki not sitting on the boat to create tunnel but standing up next to Sensui. Mitarai said “it doesn't make sense to me. Why is Mr. Itsuki standing up?” then Yusuke said “he does has legs”

Example four : When Itsuki talk about how much he like Sensui (his coming out!) then Kuwabara said "ok you can stop right there, I don't think my ears are old enough for this" LOL

There's still a lot more if you are going to watch it again. One funny thing is Jin's vocal artist has a heavy Irish accent which is too witty to me.
