Let me only talk about my favorite gold saints as this is more than 200 characters in this comic.

For comic as its black and white (except the cover pages or sometime have additional colour pages)so the colour can be more ‘boring' … I don't mean its boring, but always turn to animation may be not colourful enough or to make the whole thing looks dull. Also the characters look a bit similar with same hair colour, so they would use the colours to separate the characters on animations.

For example – look at the picture. Comic version and animation, Mu has blonde hair green eyes, but on animation he has purple hair and blue eyes. Milo has blonde hair blue eyes, on animation his hair is deep blue. Athena is a brown hair Greek girl, but on animation she has purple hair (too).
