4) Comic VS Animation I prefer the comic. I usually prefer comic for most comic which turn to animations, even though at the first time I read Seiya, I liked the animation more. Normally Japanese animation is started from Comic. When the comic is very popular the company will turn it to animation, and many side products of it (make money) .. but its a great news for a comic turn to animation (when the animations not changing the stories too much and the style of art is similar) - for Seiya, I liked the animation too but still prefer the comic. its have some additional stories on the animation version, but never twist the story too much (I'm comparing it to many other comic - there are disaster there) ... also at first when Seiya animation came out, the drawing was really, really beautiful in the late 80s. There's some animation chapters I wish it could disappear, like the crystal saints instead of Camus. Also some weird ‘saints' in the early chapter (like ghost saints, steel saints … what the fook are they ) … but it was typically because comic was famous and turning to animation but its not yet finished, animation already reach the speed of comic stories releasing so they have to add something to ‘wait' for the comic reach beyond the animations. So you see the Hades chapter didn't add much coz the stories was finished 15,6 years ago. Some sense actually was very beautiful – i.e. in the Hades, when Shion body's fading and Dohku farewell to him… very touching sense, also when Athena suddenly holding Saga's hand and push the golden knife to kill herself, and Saga couldn't reach her hair when she was falling down with the theme song… Anyways both are still saint seiya, yet same AND different, and I have so many photos and card of the animation Seiya plus the black and white comic Seiya and both are my treasure thing from my childhood…. |
