Getting old

That made you think A LOT.

In Dark Tournament chapter, the story start talked about Genkai's past. She was a young beautiful girl who studying martial art with Toguro (the strongest enemy in this chapter). Genkai get old as every human does, but Toguro fear of human's rule – no matter how bright is this at your young ages, you get old and everything gone. Your body getting weak and you cannot do anything about it. So Toguro and his brother (they call younger and older Toguro there) decided to turn themselves to Demon in order to get the long youth and power. (Even I doubt that Older Toguro just want to be more powerful but nothing though)
 
 

When Genkai used to be young still with Toguro, Toguro told her about how scary he feel to get old, that he feel he is on the peak and from now on will be only going downhill. Genkai smiled to him and said “if you became an old man, I will become an old lady too. So what's the matter? It will be all fine”

But thing didn't turn out this way. Toguro choose to be a Demon and when they met again in the story which is 50 years after, Genkai is already an old lady, even she is still the martial art master she is not as strong as she used to be, and of course she lost her beauty. In the middle of the tournament they have a meeting outside the stadium and Genkai know she is going to be killed. Before she has this meeting with Toguro, she gave the ‘spirit wave' to her student Yusuke, on some stage Yusuke is like her son or grandson but not only master.

 
 


Toguro said to her “I should have killed you when you were used to be so beautiful. But now, you are not Genkai. You are only skinny old rubbish”. Toguro lost his mind of getting more powerful and Genkai still care about him, she wish she could try to wake him up by her death but it didn't success, the last moment she using all her energy (the kind of martial art she is using will automatically turn the user's body to the most powerful status when she use her full power, and Genkai's will turn to around 20 years old, very temporary like 10 sec – 5mins) she still try to use her power but finally she got killed.

Since my 18 years old birthday, I already think of “I don't want to get old'. But every one have to get old, we just can't avoid it. And you have to know you are going to be weak, lost your beauty and health. How to deal with it? It sounds pretty sad to get old in a way, but that's life. Thing is if I can choose to be a demon to exchange power and youth, I may do it – look at Raizen, it take 500 years of hunger to death, but human are SO weak! Man, how cool is this to be a demon.
